The zebra longwing butterfly was designated as the state butterfly of Florida in 1996. With a three to four inch wing span and distinguishing zebra stripes, this butterfly lives for three months, a long life span for butterflies. The coloration and tubular flowers of firebush attract long-tongue visitors, such as hummingbird and butterfly.
