Cypripedium calceolus Linnaeus, 1753 Orchidaceae Worldwide
With Pollinator Bombus Species

Slipper orchids are a terrestrial plant of temperate coastal plain to mountain habitats. American Naturalist, John Bartram discovered the species yellow lady’s slipper. Insects are required to pollinate slipper orchids but only 2% of slipper orchids are pollinated. The successful pollinator, like a queen bumblebee, must crawl through and be the right size to receive pollen.
