Cypripedium acaule Aiton, 1789 Orchidaceae North America
With Pollinator Bombus Species

Slipper orchids are a terrestrial plant of the temperate coastal plain to mountain habitats. American Naturalist, John Bartram, discovered the North American native pink lady’s slipper. Insects are required to pollinate slipper orchids but only 2% of slipper orchids are pollinated. Insect pollinators accomplish their task by making bodily contact with the floral chamber wall.
