Calephelis virginiensis Guérin-Méneville, 1832 Riodinidae
pollinator of
Purple Thistle Cirsium horridulum Michaux, 1803 Asteraceae North America

The little metalmark butterfly is a North American species found in the coastal plain of the southeast. The distinguishing feature of the metalmark is the pewter colored bands on the outer wings. Almost all butterflies and moths have pigment and structure on their wing scales that with the slightest change of angle can appear metallic in color.
